OCIA stands for Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. This is the name given to the process of becoming a Catholic by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in November 2021. The name change was made to reflect a more accurate translation of the Latin text, and to emphasize the ongoing development of people in the faith formation process.
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the process through which adults are introduced to the Roman Catholic faith and way of life. The OCIA process is a period of reflection, prayer, instruction and formation. Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Do you know someone who participates in our community and may need a personal invitation to officially join the Catholic Church?
